Modernly yours.

Pixy Owl -1 is all dressed up for a dinner out with Mr Owl and Owlet Jr.

dilemma:
Should  I shove all of the diaper change stuff into my handbag?
or should i shove all of my things into the baby bag? (and just forget about my handbag)

It's the very thing that makes a Mom feel dressed down.
The change bag, as it is , comes in all shapes and sizes
Apparently "there's a bag for any kind of mom" out there:

Cushioned carry bags,
Sporty bag with many compartments
Sling shoulder bag for a more hip look
Black change bags that can almost fake a handbag ...almost!
The Pink ones. Oh boy! There are so many of them.

In a nutshell:
Change bags can make a Mom stick out - not in the best way sometimes.
They clash with "Mom's fashion" : heels and hair-dos in particular!

"I suppose I might as well carry a bag that sticks out by choice" said Pixy-Owl 1
Ah! There's an idea!!

We whipped out our needles
Dug out the most un-baby like print
And made a clutch bag slash change mat with a single compartment.
For test run, we unwrapped the clutch and gently placed Owlet Jr on it.
With the biggest grin, he got very ...very comfortable on the soft fabric.
It was a treat to change him.

Dogs and Fish

It's been rather quiet up on the owl tree.
There was a lot to think about. And do.
And the good news is, it's now done.

~*~

We changed our jobs and moved trees
All in just under two weeks.
Some of the Moms who man the needles also fell ill
The little owlet was pretty sick too
All in all, we survived the weeks. Phew.

~*~

Happy to announce that our tea table chats are in full swing
One of the hamper baskets arrived with many pretty things in it...the joy!

the urge to make something out of scraps is getting stronger
subsequently the scraps are getting squarer ...
We don't always know how something is going to turn out when it's done
We NEVER seem to know if these unusual prints will work at all

Like these ones for instance,

absolutely mental? we thought so.

But then you see, this is how we owls see the world around us : unusually lopsided.
Rather square and odd....an oddly-square.
(We even have to turn our heads to look sideways!)

So we thought we'll make a quilt with these odd squares
and the only way you'll see all of it is when you fold it around.

Like so!

We then liked it so much that we asked Pesky Vixen, our lovely seamstress
to make an identical twin.
This time, we chose a speeding bunch of pixie-fish to go at the back.

Dogs and Fish.
It's all about co-existence for us.

Frills & Flies

Now and then we do a bit of sewing mostly because we enjoy it.
It's a spontaneous thing : and we often make up stuff as we go!

Thus it could go both ways : a delight or a disaster.
Delight is when we made something better than what we vaguely had in mind
(we usually do a happy-dance when this happens)
Disaster is when the gamble did not pay off
(we usually hide the evidence)
But most of the time, we are just happy that we went ahead and stitched.

The very-little-girl nightie we made on Friday is no exception.
Sitting quiety in a corner pretending we didn't hear the phones ring
We started off by making a nightie with some white lace and a button
but instead, we took a full u-turn and ended up with this:

a little girl's nightie with a small back opening
and hand embroidered garden flies on the frill.

Do the dance or hide the dress?
